After Sri Lanka, England and Afghanistan, Ireland cricket team all set to resume practice amid the Covid-19 pandemic

Strengthening the chances of an England tour, the Ireland players returned to training under strict health guidelines. Originally, Ireland’s tour of England was scheduled to start on July 30, but the Cricket Ireland and the England and Wales Cricket Board are planning to shift the series to September.

After Sri Lanka, England and Afghanistan, Ireland becomes the fourth cricket team to resume practice amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“There is still the prospect of men’s T20 World Cup in late 2020 - so it may still be a big year for the men’s squad. The women’s squad are looking at a rescheduled World Cup qualifier tournament which, if it proceeds this year will require a lead-up programme,” Richard Holdsworth, the Cricket Ireland’s high-performance director said.

As per guidelines, the players are expected to turn up to the training only after registering their body temperatures, and should be using their own equipment and will have no access to changing rooms and storage facilities.
